Claire Piech

Principal and Founder

With over 16 years of experience in PR and content creation, Claire understands what works when it comes to science communications so organizations, start-ups and researchers can successfully translate cutting-edge science into engaging stories, connect with key audiences, and get the engagement they seek.

Claire launched her career working for the Canadian National Microbiology Laboratory before pivoting into journalism. She worked for four years as a senior news reporter and web editor for Pique Newsmagazine, and her byline has appeared in over 900 newspaper and magazine articles, including The Vancouver Sun, The Province and Post Media Network.

In 2010 Claire transitioned into communications and has served in several senior-level positions, including as Senior Communications Officer for the Resort Municipality of Whistler, one of highest-profile municipalities in British Columbia. She handled thousands of media requests with local, regional, national and international media and drafted over a hundred strategic communications plans, as well as put those plans into action.

Claire founded Piech Communications in 2019 with a vision to help those advancing novel science share their stories with high-quality PR and content. 

Supplementing her experience, Claire holds a B.Sc. in Biology and an M.A. in Professional Communications. She is also a member of the National Association of Science Writers. 

Julia Kwan

Content Manager

Julia brings more than a decade of experience in content creation, digital marketing and communications strategy. She is highly skilled in developing strategic content plans that target client objectives as well as building compelling, accessible and informative copy and graphics for a range of channels, from websites to social media. Her portfolio of work includes DDB Canada, BC Women’s Health Foundation, British Columbia Institute of Technology, and NOBL Collective. Bolstering her experience, Julia graduated on the Dean’s List from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.
